Boise
River GS Ride
by Rex Barrie

|
| We
will begin by leaving Boise on Highway 21, as soon as we cross
the high bridge at Mores creek we will turn on Forest road 268.
This will take us up the Middle Fork of the Boise River past Arrowrock
Dam to Forest Road 113. 113 turns right at the first bridge you
come to. Now you will be traveling thru what was the heart of
the firestorm of the "Foothills Fire" that consumed
thousands of acres of timber and range land in the early 90s.
|
 |
| As
you make your way along 113 you will come to the "Y stop"
store where you can get a good burger and a cold beverage, they
also have fuel. As soon as you leave the Y stop hang a right on
road 189 to Blacks Creek. This will takes us along the South Fork
Canyon of the Boise River and back to I-84 (10 miles east of Boise).
Pick up a Boise National Forest Travel Plan before you go and you
can explore more of the area. Round trip is about 100 miles of mostly
gravel road. While it is best suited to a GS type bike, any bike
will take you thru. |
